Media Prima partners with Global Brand Forum

Kuala Lumpur, 4 September 2008 – The branding landscape in Malaysia is about to change forever when Kuala Lumpur plays hosts in December to some of the world’s most dynamic personalities and icons such as former US president Bill Clinton, the world's leading youth marketing and techno branding guru Martin Lindstrom and the most influential sheik in the Middle East Sheikh Majed Al Sabah, retail icon and entrepreneur. Each a luminary in his own right, they will be sharing their knowledge with Malaysians at Global Brand Forum Malaysia 2008.

All these iconic global brands are set to take centre stage when the Global Brand Forum makes its Malaysian debut in Kuala Lumpur from 4 to 5 December 2008. Themed “Creating Leader Brands” Global Brand Forum Kuala Lumpur 2008 is aptly titled as this is the first time Malaysian corporations will able to hear from these luminaries how brands can be built, sustained and most importantly, create value for stakeholders.

Called the “Davos of Branding,” the Global Brand Forum is one of the world’s most visible thought leadership platforms whose objective is to elevate the quality of branding and brand thought leadership in order to make global corporations remain competitive in the 21st century. The Global Brand Forum also serves as a catalyst to raise the perspective and standards of businesses through exposure to and interaction with speakers who have redefined business and changed the world.

The Global Brand Forum’s presence in Kuala Lumpur thanks to Media Prima, will further make Malaysia an attractive destination for investment and business by showcasing some of the most recognisable public faces who are not just dynamic individuals but also ambassadors of business and investment globally.
Media Prima’s Group CEO Television Networks / Media Prima International, Dato’ Sri Farid Ridzuan said “Without a doubt, the Global Brand Forum’s presence in Malaysia will provide an excellent catalyst to kick start Malaysia’s role in the 21st century as a competitive and competent knowledge based economy by raising the level of brand literacy.”

“Media Prima’s initiative to bring the Global Brand Forum to Malaysia is a decisive response to the Government’s call to develop strong brands in this country and it will certainly provide the inspiration and knowledge for companies that have committed themselves to growing beyond our borders,” added Farid.
The Global Brand Forum led by Chairman Karthik Siva, has conducted and advised many high profile corporations and governments on the value of branding. The Global Brand Forum Malaysia 2008 will help convince many Malaysian corporations that brand building is a worthwhile investment in an asset, rather than as a discretionary expense.

Karthik Siva said “The Global Brand Forum Malaysia will help position the country as a magnet for the world’s greatest minds by providing exposure to some of the most outstanding speakers and brand icons such as two-term US president Bill Clinton and some of the other outstanding speakers.”

Siva added that the forum, in partnership with Media Prima, can also deliver valuable insight to stakeholders on how to strengthen the Malaysian brand as a global entity and look beyond local shores.

Into its fifth successful year, Global Brand Forum, called the “Davos of Branding,” has just concluded its forum in Singapore with luminaries like Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, Spike Lee, the American film maker, Al Ries, the well known Branding Guru and Author, Al Golin, the Founding Chairman of the America’s most iconic PR firm, GolinHarris, and Will Wright, the “Steven Spielberg” of the gaming industry who all graced the stage and shared their experiences.
